Wow, where does one begin to answer this. I'm in Hamilton. We often fish the dam and downstream in Caledonia. Right now a minnow fished below a strike indicator will produce walleye, pike, smallies, channel cats, gar and bowfin among other things. I have caught nice bass, pike and cats at various locations near the town of York. Further on down below the Dunnville dam are again walleye, bass, pike and huge channel cats. A lot of nice perch can be found near the river mouth at Lake Erie.
I prefer to use waders or a canoe, PD. You can go to one spot and fish from shore and get nothing, but get out on the water and you will find many other productive holes.
I didn't mention the carp that are all the way through there.
What I also didn't mention yet is that I know there are salmon in there in the fall. I do not fish salmon once they are in the rivers. What I do fish is the steelhead and browns that follow the salmon to feed on their eggs in the fall. If you want to fish the salmon or trout make sure you read the regulations very carefully, there are many special regs regarding these fish in that stretch of the river.
The Grand is a very good fishery even though many people abuse it a knowledgeable fisherman can catch a lot of nice fish and have a great day wading down the river. It is fairly big water and if you are not getting anything in one place move on and try somewhere else. Often 100 ft down stream is all you have to go.
GL PD, you can PM me if you'd like to know anything else.

Alfie.

I'd be interested in hearing folks thoughts on this, I'm in the Kitchener Waterloo area.
Now for the second part of my answer, moving upstream to the Kitchener Waterloo area. Again the Grand contains bass, pike, carp and channel cats as well as other things, and again you have to get away from the beaten path and get out on the water either in a canoe or waders away from the shore fishermen. Even further up near Elora and Fergus is a great fishery for resident rainbows and brownies. Read the regs before you fish in that area though as again there are many special regs.

Alfie.
