Some may not consider it great but what a day. Meet a fellow forum member, caught a beauty hen, Tossing Ron I didn't even pull camera out ...lol. Lost five fish along an ice shelf but what a blast. Tight lines everyone.

It was nice meeting you and it was definitely a great day!

I managed to capture some awesome footage of that ice shelf, especially the one on my third drift. I thought I snagged along the edge so I tried popping my line... walked over to pop it out and next thing I know I start feeling headshakes. Haha

You should have heard the swearing at that hole. Guys there beforee lost a ton of fish. Started cursing, yelling, even smashing and throwing branches and ice chunks at ice shelf. Lol. After they left I let it cool off for a bit then went and had my fun.

Ha ha.
Good for you.
As you well know Just getting them on is the success.
Landing them meh.

Nice! PUMP is a great community member. I recall watching one of his first steelhead vids before ever getting into the sport. Helped me become the chrome addict I am today.

I can't complain even with single catch...to me that's a good day...a bad day is falling in a pool waist deep, manage to take in water inside your waders...that's a wrap for the day.

Not to be getting too much infromation but what river or where are the fish?!

Hooked up a couple times when I went out yesterday (Credit and Humber Rivers)

Not much action if any at all! Im predicting with this warm weather we are having we may be seeing the run in just a few weeks!

Runs are happening constantly, it's game on now!

Where you guys at all this time? I've been catching bows every weekend on little water I got...yesterday was nothing different...white water and all...

Aha I live in Mississauga, so the runs are always a bit later than the East, but every time I went out I was surrounded by 20 or so people!

And thats involving waders and a 30min walk.... Id hate to see how the easy access points look right now!

What bait(s) seem to be the best for winter?

(Some people say smaller presentations are better where as others say loonie sized Roe bags in florescent colours!)

I'd go small on clear water days. big (but not loonie size) bright colors on dirty water but i'm done with that...too many species to fish so I just don't bother fishing on dirty water anymore.

The day we meet was a rare occasion I didn't have my kids. We usually fish together, it can be good and bad. Sometimes a pool just isn't big enough but then smaller pools are better and we just rotate from head, middle, tail. Other issue is we always try and stay together which can be hard as we take up room on a pool or run. They love fishing for them.
