Lets not forget Eddy Van Halen lots of talent there.....saw him in an interview once and he said that one of his favorite guitarists is Bruce Cockburn

Bruce Cockburn is amazing, as is Andy McKee.

I love Clapton when he shreds, and although his music can be very "meh" sometimes, John Mayer can rip!

Impossible question, some are great composers some are technique monsters... on a mainstream and accessible level to most I would go with Guthrie Govan and let you listen to one of his killer tracks as you browse inferior guitarists... XD

I first listened to Johnny Winter when I first got into the blues, and I wasn't all that interested and I kinda ignored him, now when I look back and re-listen to his stuff, I agree he is a great bluesman, but in my opinion not the best.
