Lets not forget Eddy Van Halen lots of talent there.....saw him in an interview once and he said that one of his favorite guitarists is Bruce Cockburn
Bruce Cockburn is amazing, as is Andy McKee.

I love Clapton when he shreds, and although his music can be very "meh" sometimes, John Mayer can rip!

Jerry Garcia and Bobby Weir to start with, those 2 could rock, or Bluegrass, Grateful Dead if you don't know.
A lot of good names have already been named.
Didn't see Niel Young yet tho.
I'm sure I could come up with many more names if it wasn't bed-time, LOL.

Matthew Bellamy from Muse is probably the best guitarist and overall musician right now I think. The work he puts out is just amazing.

Johnny Winter, hands down. listen to "be careful with a fool".
I first listened to Johnny Winter when I first got into the blues, and I wasn't all that interested and I kinda ignored him, now when I look back and re-listen to his stuff, I agree he is a great bluesman, but in my opinion not the best.

BB King...until he fell off the wagon...undocumented though....But he was pretty much drunk everytime he performs...after his peak.Depends on criteria and genre but for a band that mainly plays 3 guitars...

I'm going to go out there and say that at least half of the all time greats where drunk or high most of the time. No news here :)
