Used to be big pike. Not since they dredged the area and killed the weedgrowth. It's ashame cause it used to be great. Hate when they ruin all the good spots.

yeah sounds about right

sun fish
perch
rockbass

and i caught one baby bass

there is bass and pike in there but some ass took one home decent size.

yo I've been fishing up the islands, but haven't had much luck, I caught very small bass the size of perch, pretty much bass minnows and released them all, but my friend actually lives right beside Grenadier pond so I was thinking of checking it out... How big are the fish in there? Also is the water like Lake Ontario water and thus dirty or is it clean water isolated from the lake? How big are the fish there usually for bass, carp and pike? What times are the best? What baits work the best?

As the other posts state, its mostly small fish. I've only caught panfish from there.
Does everyone access the pond by walking down alot of stairs?

I was there with my 7 year old son August 24, 2011 from 1pm - 3pm.
Parked the car next to the Grenadier Cafe and hiked down the path next to the water fall/fountain and at the bottom turned right and fished along the shore for the next 50 meters.
My son caught a crappy, perch and sunfish using a worm on a number 8 bait hook, split shot and clip on float and of course released them.

Found and picked up a lot of discarded fishing line that people irresponsibly left behind.

I fished there during my youth and always caught something. The list include catfish, sunfish, crappy and , BIG carp that took well over 10 minutes to land. All safely released.
It was great sharing this experience with my young son and hopefully he will be hooked on fishing like me.
