Is there anyone here who needs hands on lessons on how to use certain baits or how to tie knots. Basically a class session on bass fishing or pike fishing?

Yup, structure is the key! Keeping an eye on temps and locating structure is all you really need to get yourself started.JMatt1983 said:its really no different than shore fishing, look for weedbeds and drop offs, tree roots, lily pads

Nope, no fish finder...Kit said:Yeah what JMatt Said. If you got a fish finder its like cheating lol.
I know to look for structure and targeting it has produced fish for me, what should I focus on in terms of temps? I know if the water is too hot or cold the fish will be less active...alwayscatching said:Yup, structure is the key! It is easy to identify lily pads, weeds and trees but how do I find drop offs? I have heard of using a jig or crank bait to do this but just haven't had enough practice to get good... Any tips?JMatt1983 said:its really no different than shore fishing, look for weedbeds and drop offs, tree roots, lily pads
Thanks, I also toss a wacky rigged senko in openings of lily pads a lot when I am fishing ponds, so I'll have to try that tactic when fishing a lake.alwayscatching said:Well when its hot I use a lot of topwater on lily pads because bass tend to sit in and under the mats to avoid the sun. They are still active fish though. I like to toss senkos wacky rigged or a bass jig into tall weedy areas that just sit under the water. I find openings and toss my jig/senko down there and the bass are usually waiting for baitfish to enter those spots. Just a tip for ya.
I will try these the next chance I have.alwayscatching said:You can toss jigs, cranks, jerk baits, spinnerbaits
