... blow the dust off that puppy and get er out there

hmmm some of the "higher end" Bass Pro reels (if i may use that phrase) have some good reviews, then again those Bass Pro reviews may be written by staff and their family

hmmm high BB count and on sale.... Long Live the Frugal Angler?

Fruglers RULE.........lol. :D

How about the reels made by PENN, they got some $80-$110 reels that look like they might be good.
I have a pretty average PENN Fierce spinning rod, the reel on it, never gives me any trouble, its just the line and all the crazy birds nest.

SO... I was just in a local fishing store with my daughter...
I came across an Abu Garcia Stamina 4000 spin reel, mounted on a 7' graphite rod. The store owner offered it to me for $70 (taxes in) -the combo-.

OR... the ABU Garcia Cardinal 406i spin reel, $100 (taxes in).

I have a 9' Salmon rod... was looking for a reel suitable for Salmon.
What do you think?
Good deal or no?

I came across an Abu Garcia Stamina 4000 spin reel, mounted on a 6' graphite rod. The store owner offered it to me for $70 (taxes in) -the combo-.

4000 on the 6' rod doesnt make much sense to me. On a 6' rod id say a 2500 is plenty. If your looking for something to go on your 9' pier casting rod the 4000 would be good, a 3000 is fine too. I would check out those reels I posted from the Sale at Sail. The Sahara and the Symetre are both on sale for the best price I have ever seen.

Unfortunately, I live 3 hours from SAIL/BassPro (SAIL you can't order online). :-( I am not in an immediate rush, as I did just buy the Pflueger Reel + Shimano Rod... I was in there - saw them - he offered, and I was more wondering if either was a good deal or not?

P.S. Le Baron's also has the Symetre 4000 on sale for $71.94

Lol, I meant a 7' rod!

I have a vintage ALCEDA as well as a ZEBCO CARDINAL 4--the latter is a fine reel (several for sale on e-bay)

What ! What! Who said Zebco Cardinal 4!!!

My First Spinning Reel that got Retired a long time ago. A Beautiful Reel to use!

There isn't a Fish that swims that didn't get brought in by that Reel. Including a 30 Lb. Pike in the 1,000 Islands area.

Nothing Complex about it, compared to the "New Advanced Designs" ..... PPHHFFTTTT!!!

I was inventorying, and cleaning up some of my "Fishin' Stuff" a while back so I decided to take some picture and dowload them to my Computer for future reference.

That included some "Vintage Reels" from My Grandfather. 3 Shakespeares and 1 Pflueger Level Winds. Also one of his 2 Rods. An ALL Metal Hexagon Shaped Rod in a Nice Carrying Satchel. (Right Side In Picture)

The drag has numbers!! No more wondering what your drag was set to before your friend or some one else pays with it! Not a fan of the colours on the cardinal though...

My vote - Shimano Saros. Love the Super Stop II feature. Symetre, Saros and Stradic should have new models out soon if not already. Thus the blowout sales...

I purchased a bait caster from bass pro in march. The Johnny Morris carbon black and carbon light bait cast rod and I love it. I had never used about caster much and I dialed it in no problem. Never had a knot I've had to cut out
