Hey everyone I caught this sucker today along with a few channel cats but I am not sure what type it is? I caught it in Port Franks witch is on Lake Huron.

No I am pretty sure it is a Quillback I got a few yesterday and the dorsal fin is sharp like the Quillback and not like a red-fin.

Hey Hey,,,,

NIce catch, It's a Quillback sucker! Rare.

Don't think it is a Quillback, the body shape of it is completely wrong.

Definitely not a quillback. The eyes and body shape are wrong. I think it's a silver redhorse.

It may be a redhorse except the colouring is a bit off. My guess would be redhorse.

how about a fall fish?

100% not a fallfish, they do not have sucker style mouths.

I've attached an ID sheet that I have. The best ID feature you can use for ID'ing the redhorse is the mouth. If you can get a good picture of the mouth that would be best.

I also added a pic of a quillback for everyone to have a look at

Hope this helps

So what kind of red horse is it, none of the fish I caught was gold and the fins where not very red at all.

Not even close to a quillback..

Have caught a bunch of these on the Grand.. just cause its a sub species of the redhorse doesn;t mean it will be red or look like a horse -_-
