Sorry I haven't been that active on this board as of late. Been busy I guess.
No worries though, Chibi and I will be cottaging up on buckhorn for a week after labour day (woohoo! less crowded!) and we should have some decent report(s).
We want to get into our first ever muskies, and also catch a variety of fish including bass and walleye. Oh yeah, and try for those early fall crappies too :( .
Unfortunately, the cottage does not have wireless, thus everything will be posted after we come back.

After that, I guess it will be fishing for salmon with mikeymikey!

look forward to seeing your reports.
your "fall" crappie are almost already where they are going to be.
good luck for everything

Man...
What a bad fishing week :D
Weather was beautiful... couldn't ask for better conditions, yet the fish did not cooperate.

Was out on buckhorn two times all day and had nothing picture worthy. LOTS of smallish bass with a few 1.5 lbers thrown into the mix. One decent walleye that chibi managed to land and that was it.
The second outing, I had a friend on the boat that managed to accidentally snag a perch on his flaming orange rapala xrap 10. While he was reeling it in, I guess the commotion of the strugging perch triggered a musky to smash it from the side. The fight lasted a couple seconds and soon the fish took off with perch and xrap.
That was the only musky we saw all week.

WHY IS IT THAT YOU CAN MANAGE TO HOOK MUSKIES FISHING OTHER SPECIES, BUT WHEN YOU TARGET THEM, THEY ARE NOT TO BE FOUND? :D :D

Fished northern shore of pigeon and had some success with crappie as they are moving in at night and some chunky bass too. The 1.5-2 lb lmb are fun on 4lb line ultralight setups :D

Oh well, still had a great time and we enjoyed being away from the busy city and other responsibilities.

It's hard to fish when the weather is so inconsistent and the sky's are always threatening. Also water temperature is still quite warm, and the fish are still in the late summer doldrums. Hopefully now the fishing will start to improve.
