Hi all

Has anyone caught anything out of that creek? I was there 20 years ago and all there was were creek chub. I've been down to the creek mouth under the CN tracks and nothing there. It looks like on Google Maps, a sewage treatment plant on the west of the creek by the mouth?

Thanks to those who respond.

Good fishing.

Yeah it's totally surrounded by the huge park. Not swampy like the Rouge. The river up by Kingston Rd is very shallow. Thanks I may give it a try.

I'm not sure myself, I have yet to catch one.

As far as I know, Steeleheads like cold water, I used to have a chart of fish preferred temperatures. As long as the river temp falls in that range then you should be able to find them as long as the river provides the right habitat. From what Mepps says about the river there may not be many steelheads, this could be due to lack of food or good gravel bottom. I wonder if steelies are like salmon in that they return to the original river they were hatched on.

On one of the fishing shows, I think Canadian Sportfishing, one of the hosts said that if the river is moving fast and deep enough to not totally freeze over it may hold steelies all winter. I don't know if that is true or not.

15" are you serious? They should be edible at that size........or mount it....lol. Highland Creek is in Scarb/Toronto, you must be thinking of another Highland Creek. One closer to Ottawa?

well you can look at it on google maps its right beside the pineview golf course surounded by trees but like i said nothing in there but creek chub......

Is'nt there alot of fish in the ottawa river? Where's the creek flow into? I could'nt make it out on the map, try near the mouth, maybe less chub there. Hey if you get a pic of the big ass chub post it. I'd like to see how big they get.......lol. :D

the creek runs right beside the pineview golf course its realy small and shallow but theres one part that goes realy deep im guessing around 10 feet and that whole section is clear water little rapids here and there and gravel bottom with parts that only have 6 inches or less of water my guess is they get stuck in that deep part when the water gets low and thats the only time the waters clear in that section usualy its super mudy top of that section and bottom is all mud water..... it goes under the bridge on innis corner of blair rd.... anywayse wish there was trout id be the happyest guy on earth lol

Highland Creek is garbage, never any fish except for small chubs.

That's what I thought in the upper part by Kingston Rd. I fished the mouth but nada. Too bad it can't be made more attractive for steelies, the creek is so close. I guess it just does not have the cover and bottom structure that attracts them. :? Or it could be too polluted.

Thanks for your input.
