Had a great day on saturday fly fishing for carp on Goergian Bay. Managed to land 7 carp out of 9 fish that took a fly. Also got a little Northern Pike which is always a nice suprise.
It was incredible to see the number of carp that were feeding, there were schools of 50 or 60 fish in only about a foot of water. Although there was alot of fish, they were very spooky.
Here's a few pics from the day.

thanks for posting and sharing the pics, you got some nice carp.must be a good time to wade and catch them on a fly.

Fly fishing for carp is becoming more and more popular. Congratulations on some nice fish. I have not held a fly rod in my hands in a lot of years but you fly anglers make me want to pick one up again. :)

I'd think carp on a fly rod would be a hell of a fight. Don't think I'd want to try it with my 5 wt to risk breaking it.. would need an upgrade.

What kind of flies/bait would you use for them on the fly?

It really is! the first one i got on a fly rod completly suprised me with how hard they can fight. hahahah theres nothing wrong with upgrading :p
As for flies i normally just stick to larger trout nymphs, like large black stone flies. I also use leech patterns, and small crayfish patterns.

P.S. make sure your reel has lots of backing if you feel like giving it a try

thats amazing! carp on a fly,,, i would love to try it out, seems hard tho, have to find them when they r feeding off the surface.
thanks for sharing!

Thats a decent catch! It's surprising what Carp will have a go at, if it looks like an easy meal.

Thanks for sharing ChaseChrome! I've seen that vid 8 or 9 times now, but never get bored of it. Beautiful music, beautiful sport, and beautiful fish. I need to get after some of the carp around here!!

Tights lines,

Cody
