I'm sure a lot of us were itching to get out and land some bass this weekend, how did it go for you guys?

For me, I caught almost everything EXCEPT bass at first haha, pulled in pike, walleye, catfish, suckers, lake herring and even a carp for the first few hours. Eventually I hooked onto a bass, I wanted it to be a trophy, but it ended up being about 5" haha :p Still fun none the less!

wasn't having any luck on bass gear so I switched to my ultralight setup and after lots of crappie and a couple sunfish I managed a dinky 5 inch bass

darn those 5"ers. I actually hooked into someones rubber trout net, must've floated down the river.

I and 3 other guys ended up with one good size bass only on Scogog. He caught his bass on worms! The only time panfish did not take the worm before bass. Nothing seemed to work, top water, sinkig bait, flying bait (hehe)

I was also at the bog, and had very little luck. My buddy caught 2 bass and a couple of perch on some topwaters, spinners and swimbaits. I had 3 bass on the line on swimbaits, but did not get hooksets into them, and they came off. I did manage to land a rock bass on my new light action custom baitcaster lol. It was windy and weedy, and very difficult to control boat position how I wanted. Next weekend we are going to West Lake. Hopefully, we will have better luck then.

I didnt get out this opener but will for the upcoming weekend. Opener is usually a slow go as all the fish are spawned out and moving to their summer haunts. Big weighted worms or dancing a jig 'n pig work for me usually this time of year. I like to slow the presentation down during the day and in low light, sunrise or late evening, i'll break out a zara spook or chug bug. I'll let you know how I do.

We fished a Top 50 pike tournament in Cache Bay on lake nippising and my quote of the day was "I sure do wish this was a Bass tournament and not pike". We landed about 6 bass 4lbs+. Our 5 fish limit would have been around 22-23lbs. However it was tough waters for pike. Cache bay is 2-5 feet deep on the average and completely choked with weeds. We did land 4 small pike leaving us 1 shy of a 5 fish limit. Quite a few guys left with very few fish. Not sure how we stand on the ratings as we had to leave...waiting on the site to post results. There was 105 boats total.

Edit - Results are in for the tourney - Ouch....didnt do as well as i had though...ended up 60th place out of 104 boats. I was hoping for 40 something place.

Also went out yesterday to georgian bay and we got a nice variety of fish. Mostly small fish, but between the pair of boats we got 5 pike, one small muskie, 20 smallies(biggest 3 lbs), one largemouth, one tiny walleye. Great weekend to be fishing despite the weather on saturday.

So we went to six mile lake on Friday morning so we could get the camping gear all set up and do some walleye fishing before bass opener. After all the work was done we launched the boat and went in search of some eyes while jiging with a gulp minnow I hooked into a smallmouth about 2 lbs I get it to the side of the boat reach down to grab it and the fish started to dig I grabed my rod and snap just like that my Cumara is in two pieces. Almost started to cry!!! On sat morning I started throughing a HJ12 around a point and smack second cast a 3.5lbs smallie from that I was thinking this is going to be a good one but not so much landed a few small bass and a few small pike. Samething on Sunday so we packed up early and started driving home, on th way down the 400 I decided it would be a good idea to stop at cooks bay since we left early enough. We went and flipped some weeds and pull 6 nice large mouths out in 2 hours. Who would have thought that all the excitement would be in the last two hours of th trip and only a 30 min drive from home. Lol Can't wait till Friday !!!
