Never been a good fan of catfish but here's my setup.
rod - celilo 8'6" (all around rod..from salmon to pumpkinseed)
reel - okuma trio fast action. same as above.

line 8lb. mono
leader 4lb. fluoro 3'
slip bobber. 3 split shots (just like rigging for steels)
bait - bleeding nightcrawler.

I fish in a pool that has pretty much every specie except trout.
after rain is also a good time for catfish as they tend to go closer to shore.

My record for catfish this year.
15 catfish in span of 30 minutes...I was targeting bass.

I was told using corn nibblets as bait is a good way to catch cats... Tried it out last weekend and it seemed to work well.

Anything that smells alot (good or bad) they should take it
