Recently, this place has become Ontario Salmon Fishing Forums.

How's everyone doing with non-salmon species?

The fall walleye, crappie, bass and muskie bite are ON!

Crappie and walleye are fun on light gear, and COMPLETELY EDIBLE! (delicious too!)

Maybe I should've kept this to myself and let the people here continue eating half decomposed salmon haha!

For the people who fish for resident trout, get out there!!! Only a couple more days left!

Hey ff, now that you mentioned it, could you point out any locations around mississauga (for crappies) where i could take my 9 year old daughter to. Shes getting a bit frustrated, (caught nothing in the last 3 trips), infact any place where she can catch some small pan fry would be great.

Thanks in advance.

You could go to Lake Aquitaine or Grenadier pond, both have panfish.

As fisher12 mentioned, Grenadier and Aquitane hold panfish.

If you're catching to eat them, I would consider other larger and cleaner bodies of water, like any of the Kawartha Lakes. Which are on fire by the way
Your daughter will have a blast... just dress warmly, as the temps are dropping.

i've caught 3 3-4 lb smallmouth bass this fall so far
fun times =D

That's what I'm talking about!
These fish are packing on the weight for winter and they are only going to get fatter, and hungrier!

I'm still doing okay with panfish, perch, and bass.

Btw, I think salmonid fishing is way overrated.

Fight a 15lb steelhead and let me know if things change lol.

Back on topic, I've caught small rainbows at wilmot. Thats it lol

funny you should ask...
since you all gave up fishing the islands...its been ok given the vegetation die -off
lots of pike....
up until this week i was catching alot of 4.5lb bass and 1.5 lb bass
lots of jumbo perch
pike will last for the month of october

so far ive caught jumbo perch, freshwater drum, and a couple smallies whilst float fishing for browns and chinnies down at the rocks by thhe boat launch of the bluffs. ive lost numerous fish due to me sucking but i did also manage to land some fresh chinnies and a couple hog browns. all fish were caught on skien and were all caught at night. best part? no one EVER around. i did get hastled by cops one night. apperntly it smelled very herbatious, i had nno clue what they were talking about. i was just fishin.

The jumbo perch on Erie & Lake O harbours are starting to kick off, if you want a change from black boot salmon steaks that is.

I was up at Island Lake yesterday. What a beautiful reservoir! I could not get any bass or panfish to bite... most likely b/c I was getting bites left center and right from their juv pike population. Largest one was 24". I was out from 11am - 6pm and landed 5. Keep in mind most of my day was travel time - you don't get anywhere quickly with only a trolling motor. Made things worse when it was windy and I was in a deep-v hull boat...

I'll post some pics when I get it off my phone. Northern Pike are such a gorgeous looking fish! A lot prettier than Muskie...

We like pike fishing too. Last time out (3 weeks ago), my wife landed a 27" pike that had a 12" walleye stuffed in it's throat... Caught a few browns at the forks this morning. Season closes tonight.

Campbellford Smallie and Walleye are on the bite now. Youngs point action isnt to bad right now either.

I was looking up the PDF from the MNR website regarding Zone 17. It lists LMB & SMB season to be open until Dec 15? Is that correct? If so, any idea why it's being extended?
