With the s#@t weather we've had me and a buddy of mine figured hittin the rivers would be a huge waste of time. As a last ditch effort to catch some fish we headed away from the city thinkin we'd check nd see if the panfish are out and about... Our guesses were right.

Re: Hundred day fish

nice stuff, what time were you there from?

And what did you use? I was there for a while today also!

Re: Hundred day fish

i was there for about an hour today.
landed 3 crappie and 1 perch.
seems like most fish are out of there already!!!

Re: Hundred day fish

whole day pretty much 10-5ish, just an assortment of plastics but oddly enough only a certain colour and shape enticed the crappie which me and friend didnt beleive to be there until around lunch when we switched up to the "crappie bait" from then on it was steady up until we left... needless to say we did notice that we were the only ones who consitently got into the targeted species.

which one were you, me and my friend were the only ones using centerpins

Re: Hundred day fish

i was there from 8-9 for sundown.
was packed when i got there and by the time we left, there were only like 3 people left.

when i got there, 2 guys were flyfishing.

Re: Hundred day fish

I'm pretty sure I saw you then. I was further along on the canal, as the spot you were in was full.
My colour today was white, but it obviously didn't produce as well as you.....White's my night time colour, but that was all I had..aside from my usual killer colour - pink w/ white..

I also had a lot of hits from small fish that decided not to take the hook too.

I thought I was the only one catching crappie when I got there. Lol. People started to crowd around me as soon as they saw me catch one though.

And WOW Anthony, you were there toO! I thought that the fish didn't even make it in there yet.....But guess not...I was there at a bad time anyways...in the middle of the afternoon..

Re: Hundred day fish

yeah...apparently we're a week too late.
the big ones have moved on according to some people and other fishermen.

hope this is just the false spawn and that there will be more action the next couple weeks.

the morning bite is better than the evening bite here.
too bad i won't be able to get out due to work.
last year it was awesome in the morning.

should be some snow tomorrow... careful and dress warm if you go out.

Re: Hundred day fish

I'm definitely not going tomorrow.
It's a bad time for snow though. I was looking forward to a super warm week, when the crappie start going everywhere to spawn, and then we should be good.

So now, I don't even know what's going to happen with the fish with this weird weather....

Re: Hundred day fish

haha sounds like the locals tryin to play games with the city dwellers....
from the locals that i talked to today apperently they have just started to come in...
they say that usually when the perch bluegills and sunfish come in by that time the crappie would have been done but not the case this year. but yes a week more of some nice sunny weather and the slabs will come out to play :)

Re: Hundred day fish

It's really weird this year....all the panfish seem to be in the shallows all at once.
Not only at that spot either...I don't know if that's really good though. I only wanted crappie exclusively :)

Re: Hundred day fish

hahah yeah i really wasnt expecting to see all those fish, i mean the title states what it was today, between me and 4 of my friends we landed atleast 150 fish easy, the three other dudes left earlier than me and my buddy rob(pictured) and they took their fish with them, we only kept crappie with exeption of 3 mortally wounded perch. the crappies pictured are just for me and rob and we dont even eat as much fish as the first three that left.

Thats funny...I drove by about 11:30-12 noon..SOOO many people I didnt even get outta the truck! Place was shoulder to shoulder. (Its only 4 minutes from my front door)
The fish sure did take a beating this weekend..

wow disspatcher! you must know cooks bay like the back of your hand being you live right on it!

how's the snow up there? :)

yah, the fish definitely took a beating on the weekend... due to the good weather on sunday.
they should have a couple days to relax as i don't think many will venture up there in this mess we have!

Cooks is fun but very rough..like fishing in a washing machine,,,,now the big lake is much better! Does help my boat is 4minutes away too!

There was no snow when I went to work this morning, although it was 4:45 am! :(

HEY GUYS WHATS UP.....WHERE WERE THOSE FISH CAUGHT, NEED SOME HELP FINDING A LOCATION FOR FRIDAY, PURCHASED A NEW ULTRALIGHT ROD AND REEL AND IM DYING TO HOOK IN TO SOMTHING. THANKS :)

By the pictures it looks like it's the bottom of cook's bay if you are going, be there early because if the weather is good you won't be able to find a place to fish it get's packed very quickly.

now that the winter is back :)
i guess crappie fishing will pick up when things get warmed up ?
:(
what a crazy weather this is...

This year is really weird, I wonder how well the fish will cooperate this year :)
