How many of you guys or gals are also hunters? I personally don't care for hunting but a lot of people who hunt tend to also fish, but far fewer people who like to fish, like to hunt. Personally I enjoy catch and release and that isn't possible with hunting.

I have never hunted, but i believe I would enjoy it, but I would only hunt things I was going to eat, like wild turkey, or other game birds. Probably boar as well, maybe deer, but no bear or moose. I catch and release...don`t really like fish, just Halibut from a chippy...or if I am camping and catch a nice trout, I will have a shore lunch.
I have a few friends that hunt, I listen to there story`s . Sounds like fun!

I love hunting, I have been doing since i was a kid. now, I mostly just bowhunt for whitetail, but I have done a few duck hunting trips in the past few years as well. tried for turkey, but no luck.

Never understood the sport in hunting it aint like the animal can shoot back!

I do nothing but C&R and personally I don't like the idea of killing anything but each to there own I guess!

I don't hunt just for the simple logistics issues it causes. Such as transportation, butchering, getting an FAC, keeping weapons around the kids. Not my style personally.

Just the way I am, and to each his own.

I know you guys have heard this before... but it's not about necessarily killing something, but more about just being out there...I've seen so many cool things while sitting up in a tree stand I can't even believe it sometimes... and I've gotten lucky with a few deer along the way..

I remember I used to snare rabbits too when I was a kid growing up in N-B ... ...I guess that's where it all started.

btw..I butchered my own deer last fall... made some great jerky too.. that makes everything even more sweet.

Anyways not to ramble but..... I think I love it as much as I love fishing...

the FAC part is a PITA though..for sure

How big of a deal is it to clean a deer?

It's not bad.. for me I guess cause my dad owned a slaughter house in N-B when I was growing up, so I've seen it and done it lots of times with cows and pigs. It's not pretty either though I guess, don't get me wrong..If you've never seen it, there is a lot of fluid involved..

You just carefully cut everything out and leave the "insides" in the woods.. it dissapears within a few days.. If you're lucky there is a creek or something nearby to clean up. You can usually get everything done in under an hour...

Once you get it home, you have to hang it for a couple of days.. I butchered mine by myself last year over two nights in my back shed..wraped it up in butcher paper and froze it.. I've still got some in the freezer..nice..

and.. I donated the hide to the "Hats for Hides" campaign.

sorry if I grossed anyone out,, I tried to keep it clean.
