Ya it is the Bronte from what I've learned. I think it is a crane or a bird like that.
i think it's a red necked grebe...

much more attractive than the red necked dweeb that threw in the tire...

:)

Great Shots Chalkhorse. With surroundings like that catching fish is just an extra bonus

bronte is not really dirty... i've been fishing it and swimming and canoeing the creek for decades... there is some farm runoff, as with most creeks draining into lake ontario, but all in all i find it one of the cleaner creeks in the area. great ultralighting for smallmouth, rockies, catfish, carp and the occasional pike. i've even caught a gar there.

salmon season almost destroys the creek every year and it's getting worse. any given day in the late fall, you can walk up the creek and see what the night poachers have left. throw in the trash from the six inch apart daytimers, and you have my own private hell.

but outside of salmon season, it's beautiful...

kingfishers keep flying ahead of your canoe. herons. owls. an occasional osprey. cranes. swans... (aggressive swans) morgansers, blackbirds, chickadees, jays, swallows. deer, foxes and coyotes. it's got fields, cliffs, wetlands, grottos and forests surrounding it.

one of the most enjoyable 45 minute canoe routes around... unfortunately, in the summer you bottom out around the q. e. w....

i'll post some pics as soon as i can figure out how to do so...
Wow, that's great to hear! Like I said earlier, I just based my opinion off some stuff I heard, but what your saying is great! :D With all those fish in it, I might check it out this summer, though I don't have a canoe.

I've never been salmon or steelhead fishing, so I don't know what it's like but from what I hear, it's horrible what the poachers and snaggers do.

You sure know your birds! I got attacked once by a swan at the Toronto Island, I guess it wanted my ice cream cone. :p

Thanks for identifying the bird. Not a bird expert except for the commons ones. :D Your right on it being more attractive then the idiot that threw it!
