Well my river fishing is officially done for this year.

Decided to chance it an see if any of the small lakes a couple hours north might be frozen over on sunday.

The anticipation was crazy on the drive up, especially when the guy selling us minnows told us there would be no ice where we were going. Most of the lakes on the way up were still wide open on the drive up. When we finally got to the small lake it was frozen over. Got out the auger and started test drilling. 3" of black ice wooohooo!

Suited up and headed out drilling every 30 feet or so.

Results of the morning not much but a couple splake in the 15-16" mark.

I can't wait for the ice to come my self and start catching some more fish.... getting bored of perch and pike ice fishing ... can't wait to learn about lakers and white fish and I've never caught splake or brook trout so hopefully ill go somewhere this year that will produce some :).. Nice fish gj and can't wait to start looking for my adventures
