Hit the hard water for my first ice outing of the year, we were just hoping to find safe ice let alone active fish, and after punching some holes we found ourselves on 4 inches of black ice. Some spots on the lakes we fished only had 2 inches of ice so if your heading up north use caution!! ice doesnt form evenly, punch lots of holes to test thickness and stay away from open water or anywhere that looks sketchy. well back to the fishing, it was a slow day with only a few hits and only one fish landed, a 17 inch brookie, my new pb!!
