you don't really need any special gear, grab a cheap UL combo, an axe and some minnows, go catch some perch or trout and see how you like it! (Obviously use caution with an axe or similar)Shmogley said:always been curious to try ice fishing, don't have the gear or any friends who are down sadly..

that sounds so awesome when you put it like that, matches the OP image as well lolChristopher K said:you don't really need any special gear, grab a cheap UL combo, an axe and some minnows, go catch some perch or trout and see how you like it! (Obviously use caution with an axe or similar)
You don't need any special rod or reel either unless you are sight fishing or fishing in a hut. Just use your regular rod and reel.OR, if you have a broken rod just drill a hole in a piece of wooden dowel and insert a piece of the rod tip. Red Green the reel to the dowel with duct tape.Christopher K said:you don't really need any special gear, grab a cheap UL combo, an axe and some minnows, go catch some perch or trout and see how you like it!
