I had planned to hit a river on Saturday with a couple of friends for some Steelies and Browns, but seeing the weather lately I'm second guessing it. Well be using spinners and jigs no drifting, flies, floats ect....

The river is clearly blown (I'd imagine all the rivers are right now) so is there still a chance of getting some bites or would I just be wasting time?

Won't know if ya don't go.... ^_^
I suspect most things will be high...opt for those tribs you know will clear quickest

I would probably hold off...The water levels and visibility will be POOR at best. If you do go out...try the smaller creeks, since they would clear faster than bigger rivers.

There's a gamble to this Saturday. But there's only one way to find out. As long as you stay safe...it's not much of a lose - lose situation. If it's great..then it is great...if it's a skunk-a-thon, then you learn not to go on this kind of situation for the next time. Unless you're like me who get's a heavy skunking at this type of situation but still goes "balls to the wall" when ever the opportunity presents itself...then see you on the river.

As others have said, go to the small rivers and see what happens. Unless you have something better to do its always worth a shot. Also worst comes to worst why not try an estuary or Pier.

Fishin is fishin, go anyways. Doesnt have to be steelies, could be anything(in season) just go have some fun.
True.
I read the title of this thread and thought to myself, "worth going out and doing what?" If you're going out to watch the Professional Bowlers Tour, no, not worth it. (sorry any bowling fans.)
But if it's fishing you want to do, go for it. If you're worried about the high chocolate waters head for a river mouth. All that extra water coming down the streams is sure to have some Trout hanging around. Spinners would work fine and as CA87 said you may hook into something else too.

Alfie.

would it be bad to ask what river that is CJR--doesn't seem to be a honey hole of any kind and also seems like a pretty generic location..just asking

Judging from the colour and activity on the river on CJR's picture...It's not discouraging enough to prevent me from tossing a spinner or crankbait.

Your post and your signature is a hilarious contradiction.
