Anyone able to tell if this is poison ivy?

Looks like the leaves are only in 3s at the ends, so maybe not poison ivy?

I've done a lot of trekking and I've only ever reacted to a plant once while biking in Poland. I started to think I am one of the lucky ones that is not allergic to poison ivy, because I'm sure I've come in contact with it numerous times.

Today my calf started stinging and I turned around and noticed I was touching this plant. Could this have been a mild poison ivy reaction?

Take this as a reminder to be cautious this summer while fishing, especially if you're wearing shorts and sandals. Giant hogweed is said to be growing rampantly along riverbanks, careful if you're walking your dog and letting it roam through the bush.

I don't think that you encountered poison ivy. The plant shown has too many leaves per stem,so the other possibilities are poison sumac or poison oak.

Mythbusters did an episode on poison Ivy myths. It turned out that all of the hosts were immune to poison ivy and they had to weed through half of the support crew to find testable subjects. Apparently most people are actually immune to poison ivy.

This is actually White ash.

I've come into contact with a noxious weed for the last few years and i still haven't figured out what it is becasue I usually don't see the affects until a day later with skin blisters. The best thing to do if it starts to blister and boil up is keep it out of the sun and use Calamine lotion and DON"T SCRATCH this spreads it.

here is a link with the listed Noxious weeds for Ontario that might be of help to you or anyone else that reads this post My link

I think 20%-50% of people are allergic. Being resistant does not guarantee that you will always be resistant though, you can develop an allergy to it.

I ended up with two red lines on my calf today, it stung for about an hour yesterday, I managed to resist scratching. I must have come into contact with something. I'll have a closer look next time I am there.

I know whenever I go fishing now I where long sleeves and pants because the stinging nettle is a B!^@H, the girlfriend gets it every time when were out fishing along a river. It doesn't boil/ blister really just feels like you have little needles in your skin.

Stinging nettle might could be the culprit... lots of it around and it causes mild irritation for about an hour. Also known to you as "pokrzywa". Thats probably what you got nailed by. Too bad my computer crashed a few years back, I'd show you guys some wild photo's of the damage some noxious plant did to me... Never seen anything like it, ask CJR... My arm looked like I tried cooking it over the fire.

One of lifes greatest feelings is the relief you get running super hot water over the rashes to get rid of the itch. Knowing that after the hot water you wont have to scratch for another two hours... I remember waking up early morning because the creams and pills wore off and running straight for the hot water tap.

From what you describe might be Hogweed. Your arm look like this ? Hogweed rash

I've spotted some along the Don river past week but only the smaller plants ( under 6 feet)) Have yet to find one @ 18 feet & hope it's from afar.

For those of you that do like to go through the bush to get to some shore line like myself you might want to Google more info on Hogweed & the other nasty plants that can ruin your day.
Also Hogweed sap can blind you.

Had more blisters, but it wasn't poison ivy. Hogweed is scary stuff for sure, I haven't found any yet, have seen the other plant that looks smilar but is harmless. Careful out there folks.

I found a hogweed plant growing at my first ever honey hole last summer. I reported it, and shortly afterwards it was gone.

The plants growing around it were covered in black marks. Looks like they burn the area after removing the plant, or some kind of chemical in the herbicide leaves that black behind?

Poison ivy is a bush (nasty )%$# i look at it and break out (leaves of three let it be ) and you can spread it to other people i had it all over the driver seat of truck and my bro got it all over his arm from me LOL
