it might be silly however what does it mean to bump in a forum? it makes zero sense to me.

to bring back topic to the first page. topics with new replies always appear in the beginning. usually is in the sale section where people want their items to be in the top, and not on page 5 or so, they keep "bumping"

The replies you got so far are correct schnip. People are just bumping something from the past forward.
I am a member of a few sports gambling sites and often people bump things to back up their stats when it comes to betting on games.
