I hear ya bear personally that place should be all c&r especially because of its popularity recently and lets face it the lake is not huge and cannot support harvest while maintaining quality fish. But the reason I said that is because that what was recommended to me by the staff on site. I guess they are trying to grow the bass population as they have had a rough time the last few years.

the pike are invasive, there are some in the river (come from the lake) as well and they strongly encourage you to keep those as they damage the trout population.

Mr B, I wasnt saying against you personally. I was also told this bit of misinformation by the people who work there about 3 years ago. Haven't caught a 'decent' pike since.

LOL the trout population? Ya that is some dumbass at the ministry who thinks that lake can support a trout population. Few things in my opinion...

1. The waterbody itself won't support trout, they'e tried stocking for many years but it keeps ending up like lake aquitaine... As far as I know they don't survive the winter. Has nothing to do with pike.
2. The bass population is dwindling because jackaninnies keep every fish they catch out of there. The population won't grow or even sustain when every mature fish caught is kept.
3. The pike are not necessarily "invasive", my dad's friend told me he caught them there many years before I even first went. If anything they were there long before some genius decided to stock trout

yep the usual bull man I started going there about 13- 14 years ago as a young it was such a great spot until they opened up the booth and started charging

Nobody I see there believes I got an almost 30 inch pike out of there back in the day, I believe it was 2003. By all means it was no trophy fish but it was my first "Urban Pike" and I fell in love with the place then and there. By 3 years ago I never got anything bigger than 15 inches. Last year I got 1 and this year "pike-skunked" 4 out of 4 visits. Shame as it was truly a gem in the GTA.
