Trying to get the boat ready by Saturday so I can head up, how are the water levels in Simcoe?

Thanks for sharing disspatcher. Are you going to be fishing there yourself?

Hoping to go tonight and few hours over the weekend,,,its going to be busy though.
And to be honest, I still think its a wee bit early, but with the warm weather coming, the water temps will be rising fast. I drove by last night (5-6pm) and there must have been 15 people washing lures! Few catching 6" dinks, hardly worth it....but soon!

I can see one of the canals from my house - the parking area is filling up and I'm sure it's going to be congested all weekend. I was there last night - we saw a few Crappies being caught and sunfish, but not a lot of action.

Thanks for the update.
I might bring the canoe up tomorrow morning. At least I get to explore the other channels...which I've never done before!

I was up there Friday, only sunfish were being caught. I hooked 1 rockbass and a 18" pike.

Crowds are unreal and EVERYTHING being kept....3" sunnies? Not sure what you do with those.

One thing that surprizes me (it really shouldnt I guess)... is the amount of people who have no regard for anyone's property or anything else for that matter.

There is one canal stretch that is lined with NO FISHING signs.
(Posted because some people who fish cant clean up after THEMSELVES!!)

The park may be 200m long, and MUST have at least 20 signs all along the water front, AS WELL as @ the entrance to the park.

Yet Saturday I watched a few guys fish at the end of the pier...I guess if they go far enough away from the road no one will notice. Then Sunday drove by to see at least 20 people wetting a line! A drive by again few hours later to see the garbage left behind,,,whatta pisser!

Too bad the MNR are too busy and under staffed to watch these idiots., even more unfortunate, the locals and Police cant say or do a thing about it!
Id love to fish that area myself...not sure whats stopping me.
Just disgusting.
my 2 cents.

Hmm, that's no good. I actually drove by a CO in Port Perry yesterday and talked to him and he still doens't have very many busts there, Got checked about 2 weeks ago in Port Perry, and someone was checked in Port Perry not too long ago....

So it looks like they are checking the Kawarthas more often than the Simcoe and area. I should tip the guy to go over there next time!
