Lake fishing from shore?

Good day y'all Just wondering if anyone can name a lake where I can fish from shore. Any kind of fish don't matter. Bass pike. Within a hour from Toronto ?

Scugog is a great lake for it. Also many places along Lake Ontario have a lot of nice places to get lovely catfish, carp, some perch. I have recently started fishing at the bottom of the Oshawa Creek (about 2 km south of 401 in Oshawa) and i pulled out a small pike. I have heard rumours that the Whitby Harbour has some good fish too.

I'd say scugog, I've caught small mouth from shore in scugog.

I fished the Oshawa an Whitby area an had no luck but seen slot of carp. Not my choice of fish.
I find it difficult to find places to fish off land. It's mostly all private land.

Maybe invest in a float tube, I've seen some for around $200 and you should have more options for smaller lakes.

Once in a while Canadian tire has a sale on some inflatable boats, like this week's sale that ended today had boats on sale from 60something dollars to 83.99.
I got the one for 83.99 labelled for 4 people but can really only fit 2 adults comfortably.

I think most lakes you can fish from shore like Lake Ontario, I know about Scugog (caught some panfish and bass from shore there) ,many smaller lakes within the GTA can be fished from shore.
Most likely any of the other Kawartha lakes you can shore fish, I know you can shore fish many spots along the Trent-Severn waterway(but its not a lake).

Scucog by the bridge early morning before the sunrise, this place is swarmed by people fast, super fast, be there early. Another good spot is by the dock.

I second this suggestion! The tube in my avatar pic costs about $100 at Bass Pro. You'd also need a set of chest waders, a pair of flippers, and a life jacket. Total cost for all that purchased as new equipment would probably be $250.

I have used that tube for a few years now, and it's still in great shape. Once you're in the water, it feels like you're sitting in an easy chair... very comfortable, and it's a pretty good position for casting either fly or spinning gear. Landing a fish from a tube is a lot of fun, too.

Yes, you can find Sportspal canoes for ~$200. Just need a paddle and life jacket as they usually come with seats. You also need a roof rack, if you don't already have one. Sportspal canoes are light enough for one person to mount and dismount and carry as far as necessary.

Fishing from shore is a good idea though - that's how I fish mostly. Lots of spots with lots of fish, just gotta get out there and search. When the trout or salmon are running, you have your pick of a river or creek amongst many that offer excellent fishing.

Edit: Oops, didn't notice that you had specified lake. I like to fish rivers and creeks as often as possible since I don't use a boat, for lakes I usually visit conservation areas or provincial parks. Bass seem to be the easiest species to catch from shore on a lake.

Check out a map on google,you can see the docks from there, when I went I went to the end of Island road,it was full of panfish and small bass.

Well........ I been around lake simcoe, lake scugog, Oshawa, Whitby, rouge, well along the lake Ontario an my boys have not yet caught a darn bass. Im not kidding. Ive caught the biggest sunfish in my life about 9-10". But it's not the same for the little guys until they catch their own. I know there's fish in the water, just have to find free land to fish from.
P.s I've been to all places listed above an no bass. Only rock bass, sunfish, an the parasite goby. Lol

I'm pretty sure when I went to Lake Scugog I caught lots of bass and a perch.

When I was at hearlake conservation last weekend, you couldn't even keep your line in for 30 seconds without getting bites - Worms mind you.

There are bass there and it's stocked with rainbow trout. We also caught pumpkin seeds.

The only downside is that you have to pay money to get in as well as pay money to fish there. It was about 13 dollars all together.
