Just a heads up went up to bayfield, nothing really going on yet. Maitland we heard of some coming up river but did not fish it as goderich is recovering from the tornado and many places were inaccessible. Hopefully get up for september long and have better news.

still pretty slow on the GBay side of things ....

Went again over the weekend, seen no fish, Port albert water level is very very low, goderich was so-so, but still pretty low. The bayfield river looked ready to go, water was high but still no fish. got a cat and a few sunfish. Will keep updates coming whenever i go.

Got a report there was a large rainbow escape from fish farm on Manitoulin and they are slaying fish there. Eventually these fish will be in Gbay and Lake Huron and should provide action next spring.
I was at Ganny last weekend and there were salmon visible up river but only in small numbers.
Keep your fingers crossed for more rain

I read , on another board, that the fish are really stacked off the mouth of the Notty. First rain and you will know where they will head.

there is a link to a website in "the lodge" shows some nice rainbows and Kings already heading up,,
water temp was 19.7 when i last checked, still warm but they are moveing up,, i seen and few nice ones for my self......
if i lived in thornbury, i would of been out on the river long ago...lol

I live in the area. I know the site says tons of fish have run, but I have walked every inch of the river above the dam and its low and clear haven't seen a salmon moving above the dam. It would be hard to hide the number of fish they are claiming have run. I think the sensor is right by the camera, if you watch a fish go by they swim back and forth in front of the camera fighting the current. In turn I believe the sensor might be counting the same fish more then once. I have watch the same fish fight the current and go back and forth over 10 times. so what looks like 100 could only be 10 or less.
If you think I'm just trying to stop people from coming up, i'm not . Feel free to drive up and look for your self.

i have been watching it and notice the same thing,
but im not 100%, but i think they count the fish going up, the count the fish that go back down. eg 123 went up, 70 went down=53 fish that have not returned to the ladder..

i think it works that way...

Something is up that's for sure, Went there for a mid night fish didn't hear or see a thing. Headed to the lower notty and got skunked their too. LOL

Had planned to go to Goderich or Bayfield this weekend ... does anyone have an update?

I know Cleos and J11's are usually hot at the Credit ... what are most people using?
I haven't fished this area in years.

I usually fish cleos and J-13's. past few weeks still been dead but hoping to get up there on saturday. Goderich you cant really fish near the mine like you used to be able to cuz of the tornado.

Maybe i'll try Bayfield then ... never fished there before.
Is it easy to access the mouth?

The water is too low in the Bayfield right now to attract any Salmon. There isn't a run of Salmon in the Maitland either. The Geen always has fish this time of year, but if you wish to see a lot of action you should head east to Lake Ontario and fish the Niagara or almost any west or eastern tributary. The lower Lake Huron tributaries are and will be a waste of your time until we get a huge rain.

MY buddy is spending the week at dennys dam, he say no salmon yet, but he got a 22 inch musky...

hopefully the cold front last night brought some more in!!!!
