My last day out on the ice this year was less than spectacular as far as the fish go. The ice on the other hand entertained me all day long. Never have I felt so unsafe on 12" of ice, in fact I would say I probably feel more safe on 2" of solid black ice than I did on this ice. The candling effect provided entertainment all day long and I was able to make some holes in very unique ways including using the heel of my boot  . It is a cool feeling being the only one out there and the experiences I had this day were more memorable than any Laker I have caught here.

Thanks for posting this Nado, as an angler who's just as addicted to chasing lakers through the ice, you're clearly not after views but after one last chase and headshake... This post is actually very educational and an eye opener for those that fish last ice... you hear people say that its not about the thickness of the ice but the quality of the ice and this is a fantastic visual!

Exactly TC, this is the first time I have ever seen anything like that out there. There is so much that can be learned about the way that ice behaves at the beginning and the end of a season and hopefully some fellow ice anglers will get a safe lesson without having to actually be there in person.

Nado no disrespect , but being out there alone in those conditions does not spell for me "safe lessons".

why would you be alone on the ice watching my video? You should be alone at home in your underwear eating Doritos.

Very inconsiderate. If that had gone the wrong way how many lives would you have impacted negatively when you consider friends family maybe children rescue workers their family and children not cool

If you can get through the ice without an auger, you shouldn't be on the ice...that vid scared me man

Nado.
Your a maniac.
But anyone on here that says they haven't pushed the boundaries are lying. Lol
We've all tried marriage at least once.
Enjoy.
Try to stay safe. Ha.

Now there is a man who gets it, cheers bud! lol

You could probably say that is inconsiderate for me to troll for salmon in my kayak 4k off shore in big waves or to go kayak fishing at the Niagara Bar in March after I got there and found out the wind forecast was wrong.

I consider it living and the risk is worth the reward. And before anyone chimes in and says a fish is not worth your life, please don't waste your time. Of course a fish isn't worth it, its the experience, the memories and the stories that make it all worth it.

Very true. Life is so boring when tip toed throuugh. But that risk/reward thing is a wide spectrum and everybody finds its comfort zones somwhere on it. Some fishermen are on the extremets me included, still ice fishing lol
