well, may comes to an end, and with it... this report. i worked the shop today, Fishmasters Bait and tackle in Dunnville. as usual, i had time to kill. lol. so, as i typically do, i go out and toss a bait around the marina since its rite outside the door. couple buddies were there this morning tossing some lures around the marina and river banks. they ended up gettin a couple little smallmouth and largemouth bass, and 1 smallie that was at or around the 2lb mark. once they had gone and i had some free time, i went down and started my shore pounding. target was crappie or silver bass. a walleye would have been a sweet bonus. conditions were... tough... to say the least. it was as windy as it gets.

Wind... flags are straight out

made several casts along the shore line when i finally hooked a fish... OOS largie, about a pound. didn;t have the camera out for the first, so after i released it, got my camera and figured i;d document my catches for a report. lol. so, back to the fish! continued fishing, casting, retrieving... another hit, seen it take it, just little, thinkin it was a crappie... no, smallest largemouth i have ever caught.

after that, it was indoors for a bit! so as i watchin the rain fall.. i didn;t really do anythin... i was bored. so, i took a walk to the back to check on ZOE, my buddies dog and her puppies.

back to the water! well, didn;t get anythin else from the marina. so after my shift, i made my way around and hit another spot close by. and alas, it gave me another largie.

all fish were caught on a small chartreuse spinnerbait. using a 5'6" light action rod with 6lb mono.

the grand is an often over looked bass fishery. there are some very big bass in this river and it hold both large and smallmouth bass. as well as silvers for the better part of spring and early summer when they are spawning. fish readily hit jigs and spinners and there is so much prime waters to fish these scrappy fish. i urge u to give it a try, u might be happy with what u find!

marina is deep enough to allow large boats to be launched, and the ramp has excellent traction and no issues with slipping even when wet. bait and tackle store rite on site. no time limit for when boats much be pulled from the water. can;t beat that!

nice!
silver bass. haven't seen any of those before!

and puppies OMG.......... puppies!!!

lol. the silvers come in every year during the spring to spawn, then head back to the lake. a lot of guys catch them around the outflows of plants where the water is warmer. nanticoke generating station is a prime spot. i know this, cause my dad works there, and a few years back, he brought home about 50 of them... which took half a day to clean them all, lol. but they were yummy!

Any good cats to be had ? All gone?
Those silver bass gotta be more fun than the crappies.

few cats around still. mostly smaller ones. theres ones in the river year round, but they get harder to catch. the silvers are fun especilly the bigger ones. that one was a small one, they can get to be a decent sized fish. but really, anythin that gives a tug on the end of the line is fun!

Hey UglyFish buddy,

you forgot to tell them about the walleye you caught on Sunday, June 1. That was very nice one. Not sure if you had camera with you then, but I can testify it was very nice one!!
I hope I will get some time to put together my catfish report from that weekend, with pics of my "trophy " catfish.

I was there that weekend too. On June 1, I saw at least 3 catfish caught there, of about 14 lb or bit more. (Oh yeah, I got one of these 3 ) I hope to put together report soon, if not I will at least post some pictures. My son is bugging me to go there again next weekend, but we will see...........

There you go, here is my biggest channel catfish , 29 ,5" long , weight about 14 lb, caught in Dunnville (same location as in this report) using cut bait
