was out at bronte this morning... water was cold, the air much colder... i noticed after a few cast that i had ice building up on my line and rod.....
was not expecting that.... what are some of the ways to deal with the ice that forms?
and ways to keep it from building up???

oh and i didnt get any bows today... just a bunch of white tailed salmon..... very hungry too.
all hen's, one packed with eggs, others just a few left over...

i also noticed that there are alot of dead hens that are full of egg's...... seems they got to stressed out and could not spawn.... FREE EGG'S! LOL

Line De-icing:

Some guys will put a bit of Vaseline on the tips.
I also carry a little bottle of spray (Car Lock De-Icer) with me.

- you could also put (Anti-Freeze or Rubbing Alcohol in a little spray bottle)
________

As for the "Eggs" from dead Hens:

Thats how I got some earlier at the Humber.
Remember.... "Techniquely" - harvesting the DEAD HENS would still count as per your daily limits and harvesting quotas.
You also have to follow the rules as for the "Carcass" (Even though they were dead - Again "Techniquely")

I like to put the Skein in a bag or pail and wash in the RIVER WATER for at least 10 minutes.
Let em sit and then add more fresh water.

This seems to get them firmer and keeps them Bouncy when you take em home before refridgeration - freezing.
I personally, DO NOT add anything other than: Sea Salt (Pickling Salt).

Once you seal the jar(glass) or zip lock, dont "PEEK" or open the bag ...until you are ready to use.
This allows "Warm Air" in and could transfer microscopic moulds/fungus etc on the eggs.

Better luck next time on the Steelies!
Glad to hear you got out and had a good time

thanks for the tips....
i wasent sure about the limits of dead fish, but had a feeling there was one.. lol seems weird... only found 3 dead ones.
i washed them in the river, and used "pro cure" (pink color) on them, they look awesome now.. just like if they came out of a live hen....lol..

id also like to say thanks to all of the members of the fourms for all the help, tips and suggestions.....
if it wasent for yall, id be so far behind in my fishing skill's...

good advice makes for great days on the water... even if the fish dont bite... theres always something to be learned..... (and fun to be had)

Vaseline. Smear some on your lne above your float. First few eyes as well. Once the ice starts building up again, re-apply.

Chapstick works for me. I simply apply to my top 4 guides.
-I haven't had any issues with line freeze yet..but it's coming.. lol
