but lets say your 8lb is trilene xt @ .010 then your 8lb trilene is as thick as my 10lb main line. so you should be able to technically use drennan 6 without worry as i said before, depends what the diameter of your line is, numbers don't mean much, unless you are using IGFA line.buck said:@ kilk that's what I mean 6 with 10 main is better than 6 with 8 main when it's drennan

Fishheads said:If you use Hi vis you need to run a low vis shot line. Ande 8lb .275mm -(SWIVEL)- Drennan 6lb .24mm
Ande had a IGFA tournament line as well. the 8lb is .25mm That might be a little to close...lol to the drennan 6lb but as klik said the 5lb is .22mm and its great stuff as well.

this is the ultimate best way to catch any fish, specially salmon, and trout. as long as the water has some colour, leader and things like that are over rated. i just personally don't dare using 6lb as my main line on anything bigger than 20 inches with my rod.Mattofsteel said:Been out there running around close to 27 years, tried it all, figured out the more simple you make it the more you are in the water and the more fish you will catch. I spool up with a dacron backing and about 240 yrds of 6lbs maxima, I take my time spooling up and I run that straight to my hook. The line is good in clear water as well(as clear as clear water gets). I don't lose fish or floats because everything is matched the way it is designed. Most of the guys I know that have fished as long as I on the river have come across the same notion of simplicity. Then again a thousand fishers will fish a thousand different ways, just my two cents.
ya i learned that the hard way when my line became a popsicle lolw_ boughner said:you will never go back to mono !! Just remember to add 10-15' of mono or floro above your float when it drops below 0 ... Braid doesn't like ice
