Hi,
Any suggestion of long distance casting spinning reels? Better less than 100 bulks.
I do shore fishing, no boat, need a reel can cast 100yard.
Mine is 12" Daiwa® Maddragon Carp Rod:
Line Weight: 6-18 lbs.
Lure Weight: MAX 4
Pieces: 2
Handle: A
Model: MD2314

There are a lot of factors that make a big difference in casting distance. Each rod has a specified weight range which you need to consider. finding the right weight to cast for that rod will make a big difference. Using a thinner diameter line usually casts farther. The condition of your guides. These are just a few things that you should look at.

Spinning reels don't actually give you better casts, they just let out line on the cast. The rod and line is what gives you the long casts. The condition of the rod guides, line diameter is what matter. Smaller diameter of line is basically smaller lb test.

As already stated, the reel alone will not cast further. To make 100 yds you'll need a stiff and longer rod, 10' and up in medium to heavy action. The longer rod will create a larger arc and have backbone which to load it. A small diameter spool on the reel will reduce the friction of the line coming off, but with a longer rod you also have more guides. Lighter line will increase distance and so will a heavy lure. But as you try to cast the heavy lure there is the chance that the lighter line will break. So you are back to square one. If you really need to get your lure that far then you'll probably have to get a remote controlled boat with a line clip and let the boat take your lure out.

No matter which of my 12 rods I use, the farthest I've ever casted is probably only 40-50 yards. This could be built into the rod by the manufacturer.

Changing the reel alone won't do it. Good luck.

Hard to spec a specific reel, but basically you want one with a longer arbor. Those designs, when balanced with the pole, will help cast a little further.

Hi! I have some "long cast" carp rigs for sale for 5$. You can see them on this forum in "for sale" area. Maybe you don't have a good technique for casting.with this rigs you can reach easy 100 yd. If you want l can show you my way of casting.

I found some video recommend the daiwa windcast x + 12" carp rod can cast long.
thanks lombrea.
I'll check long cast rig you mentioned.

markhamfisher What test curve is your carp rod? It should be printed on the rod. With a 2 &3/4 lb test curve rod and with a Diawa Regal Plus Bite and Run 4000 ( that's the one at Sail) reel using 2 &1/2 oz of lead you should be able to cast 100 yards with ease.I have not fished with the Mad Dragon but I have heard they are kind of whippy.

The model you have is 3 &1/4 lb test curve . That should be sufficient to get the distance you want . This is just my opinion, and it is an advantage to be able to cast a fair distance but almost all the time it is not necessary and accuracy is much more important. Here is a video that you may find useful. Matt Hayes casting for carp

with a lugger weight on the line an icefishing reel will smack 40 yards.....carp bottom fishing no? huge weight and a leader with bait? with that weight u can throw it 50...
