Has anyone been to Long Point this year? Whens a good time to catch the silver/stripe bass that run there? I heard it can be pretty good if you go at the right time. Also, bait... what works best?
Thanks!

.... hold on, nelly!! "Stripe bass"?? Striped bass??? You know something we don't? you are talking silver/white bass right? 'Cause if there are striper hybrids down there, well.... *gets in car and floors it for Long Point*

lol! On a serious striper note... I see a beauty of a striper/silver bass cross was caught off Toronto a few years back... Ash-something Bay??

.... good lord I miss the silver bass runs.... when the zebra mussles got a foothold in 1992, the runs dried up. Each darn little muskel can filter a litre of water a day, syphoning off the plankton that attracted the baitfish the silvers devoured! ... let alone make the water even clearer for further sun penetration and all the bad stuff that comes from that...

Striper/White Bass hybrid is called a "WIPER".... just remembered, and the beauty a few years back was caught in Ashbridges Bay (spelling?) I just can't find what its weight was.

I was in burwell fishing off the rocks for a few hours this weekend. Warm temps had driven most of the fish into deeper water. If you are going to go make sure you go early morning when the temps are cooler.

But you did land a few? Just wondering, bc a friend of a friend mentioned that going at the right time (not exactly sure what month to go) you can pull in tons and they bite constantly.

ya I pulled out a few. There was no shortage of the ones that are so small they can barely fit your hook in their mouth. Yellow Perch is crazy there. People limit out there in a few hours all the time.

White bass we are talking about here.

White bass range from 8-12inchs and run up rivers in the fall till december.

Hybrid bass are put in lakes around the united states and can go up to 50lbs.
