Looking for a kid friendly fishing spot

Hi,

Would like to know if there are any kid friendly spots where there is a decent amount of fishing. My kids get bored quickly (like most do) when they aren't getting any bites. Can someone recommend a good location that has washrooms near by (or good amount of bushes) with half decent fishing? If there are any piers that offer this, that would be ideal.

Thinking of heading out this weekend/week. Please PM me if there are any specific locations that would be best. I really appreciate it.

High park, grenadier pond, Tons of panfish. All you need is a float, hook and worm.

I wouldnt go to High Park due to the fish die off that happened a few weeks back.

For fishing for kids, you can go to Humber Bay Park. They have 3 ponds in the middle stocked with lots of sunfish.
They also have carp, bass and pike that hide under the walkway during the day.

not to deter you from going there or discourage any one, but isnt humber bay park where they found west nile ? just wanted to get that out before you take your kids there. i would think that centre islands would be great for pans and bass

i dont think theyre piers with good panfish compared to some shore parks, they might get into a salmon if they're lucky at the pier :mrgreen:

If your kids dont care what they catch, head down to Bluffers Park and you'l get a mountain of gobies. There are pike/bass down there too, but not too many.

High park is dead.

Just remeber with the gobies to bring a garbage bag with you as you can't throw them back.

i use yarn or some leftover garbage, sometimes i use flies

kid friendly is Snyder's Flats since you're coming from W'loo area. (technically in Bloomingdale). Take Northfield out towards Conestogo hang a right onto Sawmill then follow that along into Bloomingdale and hand another right onto Snyder's Flats Rd. (at the baseball diamond). Follow that road to the end and park. There are a few ponds to fish but the one on the left (biggest) holds perch, crappie, bass and large chub for sure. I took my 10 yr old daughter there and with an UL and a 1/32oz tube we landed all species but the chub. There are supposed to be pike and big cats in there too if you use the right bait. A beautiful blue heron grabbed the chub right beside us and was amazing to watch. If you go mid day'ish then the other ponds are taken over by people throwing things into the water for their dogs to retrieve....so frustrating but what can you do.

Now for that other topic "the great goby roundup"....this would be a fun and productive thing.
