HI GUYS, I'M NEW TO THE FISHING SCENE, AND GETTING PREPAIRED FOR WHEN FISHING RE-OPENS. LOOKING FOR NICE LAKES/CONSERVATION AREAS FOR LARGER PIKE AND LARGER BASS IN THE GTA AREA (WITHIN 1.5 HRS DRIVE). AND I NEED SOME THING THAT IS CANOE FRIENDLY. ANY HELP/IDEAS WOULD BE APRECIATED. THE BIGGEST PIKE I COUGHT LAST YEAR WAS 26INCHES I'M AIMING FOR 30 PLUS INCHES,AND MY BIGGEST BASS WAS 3LBS HOPING FOR 5 PLUS LBS

Hey, welcome aboard!

If you have a canoe, the GTA is your oyster! lol

Seriously, there are lot's of places that you can take advantage of with a canoe. Scugog is only one of many, many places. Browse the forums, ask around and post a report or two... then take a look at the GTA reports section... lot's of good spots in there. (you need to post a report before you get GTA reports access)

PM me your mailing address and I'll get a welcome gift out to you.

Cheers!

Hmmmm.... Join date August 3rd 2007. Sorry, I have to draw the line somewhere. :?

But, if you are one of the top 5 posters for April, you will get an even better prize!

If your willing to drive up too the trent river, there is some nice bass in that river that i have caught before! Rice lake is another one but maybe it's to choppy for a canoe.

Try Valens Conservation Area off Highway 97-excellent pike and LM bass -good Bluegills too.Used to go there alot when i lived in Hamilton.lost my 2 biggest pike there due to not having wire leader going after Lm bass.Haven't been in a few years though-hope it's still good.

That's a good recommendation. I've heard many good things about Valens.

Absolutely base place for King size Bluegill is ?

I love Bluegill! awesome fight on UL.

When feeding mode, they will go after 2" rapala with treble hooks like mad!

That is the reason why I bought a 7'6" Ultra Light rod, so I can actually cast out those tiny tiny lures to a reasonable distance.
If not, I should have gone to fly fishing path.

Last year I was fishing Terra Cotta, Williams and Island lake looking for bass but Island lake seem to only have 2-3lbs I am looking for a spot that has 5 + lbs any recommendations? I have no boat but where they were available I was renting them.

Is Island lake still good? I went there once and never caught anything. do you know if they allow you to launch a boat before bass season opens? if you say your just fishing for pike?
