Hey all,

Have my eye on the Raven IM8 15' Sliding Rings, 3 Piece or the St.Croix AVID SERIES AVS150MLM3 15' ML Mod, 3 piece... any advice is much appreciated!

cheers,

i just got the R-type from natural sports in Kitchener, $280 float reel and rod, 13 foot 3 pc. very nice for my first one!
i can post pics or u can look it you on youtube! lol'
cheers

Ive heard good things about the IM8's, it sounds like he is looking for the best rod in the 15' category he knows it will be heavy lol. Cant say I can provide any advice for ya as the only float rod ive used is the 13'4 Sheffield which I love but havent compared it to anything else. Ill let you know about the 17' streamside im trying to buy off kijiji if it works out lol.

My 13' im8 gives me sore shoulders after half a day, I can't imagine what a 15 would do. I wouldn't go for 15 im8. If it was a glx now those babies are light even for a 15 :) there is really no need for 15 unless u are fishing niagara and saugeen most of the time. I have no problems running 13" anywhere I go :)

Spend the extra cash and go for the RV9 13'6 - unless your 15' is your big water stick i would stick to the 13'6 or 13' IM8 IMO

I have a 17 stream side and i love it heavy but if you're fishing big water thats where you want to be .. The raven is a well made rod and ya it is heavier than a 13.6 it's bigger !! Personally I would go with the raven if you want to buy now... There is talk of streamside coming out with a 15' in the tranquility series and the 13 is the lightest Rod I've ever picked up it feels like a 5' ultralight panfish rod and has a lot of back bone more than the raven and stcroix ... I'm waiting to see what happens cuz I'm looking for a 15 as well but want the streamside if it comes out this year .
