I've been attempting to target pike for the first time. I've been using nothing but spoons to do so. I've recently picked up a few to add to the collection such as a small 5 of diamonds. A couple of cyclops and a moonshine spoon (primarily use moonshine at the piers)

What kinds of lures are beat for pike? I've heard all about the husky jerks but I'm a little leary on buying one beca use I'm fishibg from shore and I'm worried that I'll get er snagged and lose it.

What's a good spot to go hunting for pike? I've been trying at the rotary park in ajax to double my odds of either a pike or an early salmon.

Any tips help plenty thanks folks!

What conditions are you fishing? Over weed beds I have had great luck using spinner baits by BlueFox and Mepps as mentioned above. I also like to throw Live Target "Smelt" (silver or golden colour) over or along weed bed lines, I love the big aggressive hits! Make sure you pay attention to the depth on the boxes! Some go 4-6 ft and others only 2-4. A variety never hurts!

I should note that since your fishing from shore, if there is a lot of structure you may want to keep your rod tip up as you are near the edges (and a slower retrieve for floating lures)

Beauty! Thanks for all the help folks! Had Alot of follows but no real hookups on a chartreuse spinnerbait. I've got an arsenal of spinners like the vibrax. Any suggestions on which jerkbait bait to start with? And how to fish it? Are we talking rip and reel or a nice so slow jerk jerk pause? I'm A Little Leary In The Jerkbaits Because I'm Fishing From Shore Usually Around Alot Of Weeds And I Don't Want To Lose $15 After 2 Casts Lol

I like to do a jerk jerk pause motion but I mix it up every cast, use floating rapalas (like the jointed and F-9's etc) as they usually dont go deeper than 4ft

That's important. Know the water you're fishing. suspending plugs are the best, whenever I fish them on the shore, I would say I wait about 30 seconds before I start my retrieve, slow then pause for another 5 seconds then retrieve. The beauty of a suspending plug is that it stays in the striking zone for a long time, enough time for the pike to inspect and take a look. If you get that lure close where you can see it underwater. always check 3 feet from the lure...sometimes there will be follows that would trigger a strike at the last minute. Daiwa suspending plugs cost less than 7 bucks and I find them just as effective as any $10+ plugs out there.

If there following but not biting your giving them too much time to look at your offering, speed it up or at least change it up.

Get out of the sport fast then :) try a $150 fishing rod exploding after two casts because of a lilly pad when your 12km boat ride intot he place that hurts a few lures lost not so much.

I'll say it again Shimano sucks!
