I was looking at google maps for places to fish and I saw Marie Curtis Park.

A quick search on OFF and NF tells me thats its a pretty crappy place to fish lol.

Can I get your experiences and thoughts on the place?

Thanks

There are/were fish there (when I lived in the area), but there are better places to fish... It used to get a small run of various species of migratory salmonids years ago (late 90's/early 2000's), but I'm not sure if they were successful spawners or just strays, and I'm not sure if it still does now. It also depends on what you are fishing for. There is a little known creek nearby that would get choked full of carp, as in "walk across their backs". I won't mention the name of the creek, but I assume that since you're asking about MC you live reasonably close to that area and can probably find it... Again that was years ago, so things may have changed since then.

Do some scouting and you may find some better spots in the area IMO, Port Credit being the obvious one.

That park ain't what it used to be. It used to be full of carp throughout the summer months from my recollection. That was years ago. But in the last 5 years I'd visit a couple of times each summer as I was passing by and I pretty much would never see a carp while walking across the foot bridge nor would I see any anglers carping. I used to see between 3 and 6 carp anglers by the bridge each time and 1 or 2 at the mouth looking for whatever else they could find.

The water by the footbridge used to be lower and clear and you'd see tonnes of carp. But every time I go there I see that it's definitely higher than it used to be.

I have in the past seen people catch a sheepshead, and a pike and I observed a gar pike and the biggest 'bow I've ever seen. But that was when the water was low and clear.

Now you'd be lucky to catch.
