I'd go stronger for chinnys. Most people I know use 6lb-8lb drennan for them including myself. I used to use maxima, but was having a lot of break offs with the 8lb stuff. The maxima ultragreen leader is good stuff though.

yeah i have some of the maxima ultragreen it seems tougher,i was using the maxima fluoro since the water was clear and low. i was running 8# main line as well so was using 6# leader.

I've used the 6 lb. for steelhead without problems , but I run Drennan 6 lb as well and find the Drennan to be stronger than the Maxima.

sounds like it was just me,should have been using a little heavier # line, looks like i'll give that drennan stuff a try next time.

Yeah I noticed the Maxima floro 6 is not that strong and mono 6. Looks like it's over-rated and you have to go up by 2 lbs. My 6 probably broke at 3-4lbs. Only reason I got it was b/c I told the guy at sail I never had a steel yet so he said use floro and said it was good. NOT!!!! I'll try one of the other lines. This stuff sucks.

just remember when looking at line ratings, some times the truth is in the diameter of the line and not whatever bogus rating the company affixes to it. for example, the maxima may be the same rating as the drennan, but the drennan is a thicker line. you get the idea

I have been using Seaguar for a few years now and have no plans on switching..

Seaguar invented floro and they do claim that their line has 40% more knot strength. They have also improved their product while others have not kept up.

My buddy turned me on to the maxima flouro. I love it. Comes in 300 yd spools for 20 bucks. Use 8 and 10 for nooks and shot lines, 6 once the tanks are done. Just as good as any other stuff you see. Drennan is good too but be careful it's underrated and you may blow main lines. Have a spool of abrazx and like it too. It comes in big spools too
