If you were out there off of the point on Saturday you probably know what I am talking about. All day long aggressive fish are suspended in the middle of the water column chasing swammers, tubes, thin fish and anything I would throw down there. It seemed like a rare moment for the screen to be completely dead only to light up again within a few minutes with more of these aggressive mid column fish. I'm not sure if they were just herring or what but they were definitely successful in raising my blood pressure by the end of the day.
Luckily every now and then an aggressive laker would come peeling off of bottom and as soon as I would see the mark it was obvious that all other marks needed to be ignored while I focused on the one that mattered. The day actually started off very will with my first fish in the new within 10 minutes of anchoring, I thought it was going to be a banner day until those pesky marks showed up. In the end it was another great day on the water as all it takes is one fish to make me happy and I ended the day 5/6 as I told the MNR survey boat my stats with a big grin on my face.
Now its back to the 9-5 grind as I await my next coveted Saturday on the water. Here is one of the videos that turned out alright, I am still tweaking the go pro set up and I think I need to extend the arm just a little bit further so that I can capture the full arc of the rod. Saying a word or two throughout the video will arguably improve the production as well but for me its all about hearing that drag sing.
