Excellent, maybe i'll go try it out this week.

Be careful if you do! There are steelhead below the dam right now. Make sure that you aren't targeting steelhead or you could get into a lot of trouble if a CO catches you. :?:

I should add, even though you aren't "targeting" steelhead, you can get charged even if you "appear" to be targeting steelhead. So if you do fish there before trout opener, do not use a noodle rod or any tackle commonly associated with steelhead fishing... Obviously no roe etc...

Just a heads up.

was at milne dam today, and saw couple steelhead going up the dam, also saw a guy catch a perch. There was also a 1lb LM bass that was dieing in the water. Water is still pretty murky thoe . Going to give it another try tomorrow.

there are lots of carp in that body water. most likely the fish you see splashing and breaking the surface are carp.

Yeah, I seen some before too.

Would it be safe to say that there are steelhead around this time? Would it be at the dam? Is there a set distance that I need to stay away from the dam? It's along the way home and might be a little late to head over to Wilmot.

***EDIT***
Nevermind...I was looking it up and I think it's too early for steelhead, if there were any.

Milne Dam, Fishing Is great nearly anytime of year.

So long as the water is safe, you can catch nearly every species of fish known to the Great lakes tributary, "ROUGE RIVER"

Carp are most likely the most Viewed fish on top of the water.

On top of the darn, You Are able to catch Rainbow trout, and Very nice Size Bass. A Small row boat or canoe, Can get you to some Prime Holes throughout the Over filled river.

It Does Look Very murky, But The Fish ARE there, There is also a tackle shop on hwy 7 at kennedy just in case you want to grab some fresh worms.

Fishing on the rouge river is open until new years day, From lake ontario to hwy 407.

And if you are out, and see some garbage, please do what you are capable of to help clean up...

Tight Lines.....

Hi Jeremy, all I've caught there this past summer was catfish. You say there's trout? I'm interested.

I'm a newbie so bear with me. I kept getting catfish because it was summer? And trout are cold-water fish. I would try now but I'm pretty sure it's closed for fishing right now.

i live near this place..have tried it few times..mostly cat fish..but there is carp there..by the markham rd entrance. There is a fish ladder there..so im sure all kinds of species are there..even pike..im going to give it a try this month..hopefully get somn bigger then them cats.

thought i do an update..

i dropped by milne today to fish for a bit, few hours, i actually got a follow and a bite, i was casting my five of diamonds from shore ofcourse..and i felt a pretty big hit..looked down and saw the fish swim away, it was way to fast to tell what it was but i saw it..over a foot for sure. I dont know what it was, do you guys think catfish would chase a spoon? i doubt it...anyways..w.e it was..its still there..i was hoping there would be pike. might go back in the evening..since im few min away.

Hey man I'm pretty sure that area is closed for fishing right now, check your local regs, steelhead are up the rivers and sitting below dams and ladders. Just make sure you check before you get yourself into some trouble! Tight lines.

I went today to the Milne darn Park using the McCowan Rd, I have never tried to fish before, so, it was "interesting", specially now knowing what kind of baits i should use...

Well, as I friend said... "catch a fish? NO PROBLEM!...they can swim!"

Try to catch a bottle....

Yup! my first "CATCH" :p

Welcome to the forum Andre! My friends and I also tried to fish that beach area 2 years ago. We went out in a canoe later to find that it's only 2-3 feet deep for the most part! XD So there probably aren't fish from from the beach area.

I've caught cat fish from behind the dam using a worm on the bottom. edit: in the summer
