nice fish! Whats the ice like? How much ice? slush? snow? Heading to lake jo Friday.

It's pretty slushy if you get off the tracks. Weather is going to be colder on the weekend, but we are in for a couple of mild days until then. People out today were still telling great stories of lots of fish all over the lake.

thanks for the update. Hope to be on the lake in the morn on Fri. Do you know if and where the whitefish are on Jo? Always done well with Lakers over the last few years but havn't really looked for whitties! I fish the north end of Jo. If you don't want to post here I can give my e-mail.

I've never fished Lake Jo for Whitefish. It's best known for its Lakers. Lake of Bays is better known for Whitefish and you can fish just about anywhere on the lake to catch them.

no prob, I hope to come up again maybe Monday, hope not too slushy, if so will be a fun walk, thank goodness for insulated rubber boots :)

We went out the other day(thursday) in rain, and the slush was minimal!! Only got 2 tiny lakers in 2 hours...gah!
We were supposed to go out today, but many roads were closed and the 60+km winds made us stay home...going to try again tomorrow. I'll post with slush conditions if we do get out as planned.

Hey RedSkullz, did you manage to get out, how were the conditions on top of the ice?

We did manage to get out a few days later...conditions were sweet!! After the current rain we have been getting the conditions are probably not so good now....hope to get out mid-week if i can. We went out for 5 days this week for splake...got a half dozen with one being 2 pounds or so.

We went back to Joe on tuesday...conditions were great. Got 5 smaller lakers and one ling. The conditions are not good now i bet after all that rain.

Conditions were good up until about 1:00 p.m. yesterday and fishing was good. Lost a good one. The drag was screaming for a good 30 seconds. I've started fishing about half way up from the bottom. Seems the bigger ones are crusing around. Steady rain today and we got about 6" of snow last night. Good day for a Hut.

Wow...the slushcapade never happened? SUprise! I though all that rain would have fouled up the ice huge! So then its just a layer of water on top of the ice?
We have also been getting the odd bigger fish suspended. Marking them usually at 90 feet in 130 feet of water...also seem to be marking lots of baitfish in that same range
