Anyone going to be targeting Musky this weekend. Where will you try your luck? I might throw a bucktail or some big crank/swimbaits on RICE in an attempt to hook into a monster myself.

Have only ever caught one and it was caught on the Trent River, east of Hastings using a Phenix Tube. It was caught the day before Musky season opened, actually only hours before. HHHEEEEHHHHHHHHH

Not me LoL not intentionally anyways I need to invest into some heavy action rods and reels first LOL. On the bright side these rods do not require finesse therefore should be relatively cheap I would imagine.

Not really. If you are getting something heavy like a Shimano Crucial like I have you are looking at around $160 and up for a rod. Shimano Musky Rods are $130. Pair that with a Calcutta, Citica, Curado or other and the entire setup could set you back a few hundred dollars. When it comes to Musky you better have the right gear or your rod will break.

Heavy equipment a must for the sake of the fish.

Dirk....

i'll be going up to my cottage on moon river (muskie heaven) i'll be leaving on saturday around noon but that still leaves a couple hours for kuskies, i might try my luck at pike while i'm there too

Dirk,

I've actually caught a few Muskie in Scugog off the pier in Caesarea. Got them while I was going after Walleye at night. One decent one... about 42 inches. I think last year. Off a small X-Rap or a suspending jerk like that...

All off of spinning gear and 10 lb test!

Good luck at Rice Lake. I've caught a few near Bewdley...
