My biggest fish ever.

Hey guys, I hooked into my largest fish ever today. Me and Tangledline hit the Toronto Island this afternoon at about 2 oclock. weather was overcast and cool, with a wind blowing in from the east. We started fishing the channel behind the police station looking for the ellusive PIKE! Didn`t have any follows, so we moved to the grandstand...no luck there. So we hit the oppsite side of the grandstand(headed straight for the corner. I was throwing my brand new little cleo(silver and blue) I had 1 follow in about 100 casts. Tangledline was not having a good day today, his new baitcaster and rod were giving him alotta trouble, and even his back up rod didn`t seem to go too well for him...so we went to the swan pond for some bowfin or carp. I switched up to a blackfury mepp # 3 (brand new) and started casting into the pond while Tangledline worm and hooked it. and at 5 minutes to 5 I had a strike...FISH ON I yelled, and Tangledline came running over with the net, I got to fight him for agood 10 minutes, all the time he was running around twigs and twigs and twigs...at one point tangledline thought I was crazy and just had abunch of sticks, but I knew better...we get to see him for the first time and OHhh Nelly, what a hog...

The carp was 31 inches long,
View attachment 7026 and weighed a wopping 17.5 lbs...this is my largest carp, and fish ever caught. I could not be happier!! hehe...sorry to tangledline, who did not have a good day at all, but what a trooper.

congrats kearney!!
the carp gave him a terrific fight..... but for the first couple of moments it appeared as if kearney was dragging in a tree..branches being dragged yards and yards....but when the branches finally fell away the carp bolted under a small low bridge...kearney fought him back to our side....the carp bolted away from us ..yards and yards...poor kearney had to fight it back to shore....i was really happy for him to land it...i would have bet on the fish getting away right up to the point he was 5 feet from the water and in the net...well done kearney....you landed a fighter.
note: kearney also got back from the lake a previously lost lure of his.....made the day even better.
kearney's 17.5 lb stat for the carp was measured properly on my matzuo 25 lb scale (not an estimate) and a tape measure was used for its length....does anyone know how to calculate its approx. age ???

So you were the guy in the orange jacket yesterday then. I was the one fishing with my girlfriend by the centre island bridge. Didn't catch anything from there all the way to Hanlan's, so, glad to hear that you had some success!

Indeed a Mepp #3, I think I threw it into a group of em, and made them angry and he just reacted to it..but hell ya a nice fight...got the blood running!! Hey Bryan22, good to see you out there, say Hi the next time you see me, I am always there!!

I have yet to have landed and touched a carp although I've hooked into a lot of them.
