Hey all, last summer i went fishing about 11-12 times and i caught the fishing bug! Last summer i was working with a total tackle rod and reel set to feel it out and see how much i liked fishing. So this summer i have decided to put some money down on some real tackle! I mostly fish from docks/piers/shore with the very occasional boat ride, im not very species specific pretty much what ever i get, im new to lures and the such and have only really used worms. I went out and got my self a Shimano Volteaus 7ft rod with a Shimano 2500 reel, i figured it could deal with most of what i throw at it, i also got some suffix gore braided line 10lb test. So now what i need help on is lures and tackle, what lures should i look at? I was looking at some meps ones that looked nice and my buddy told me to get a red devil? Any help would be appreciated or eve point me to a site with beginner tips no one in my family fishes so i gotta figure most of it out my self. i mostly fish on simcoe and in orrilia if that helps!

thanks a lot guys!

yes man. go for the mepps and red devil. you can catch tons of fish on either, even thought they are mainly for pike and bass

Every tackle box has to have a red devil. Make sure to get some bobbers, a variety of weights and hooks. Some top water are good like hoola popers and repalas skitter pops. You need some spoons. 5 of diamonds work well. Crank baits are good. A few Eirie Dieries are good. There are so many different plastics. Get a bait bucket. Gagnons in oshawa sells them so does le barons and bass proshop. You use them for the tried and true good old worms. Happy fishing. Go to your local tackel shop and talk to them. They can be a huge help.

if your goin mepps get the aglia, #3 is the most versatile size i would say. they come in so many variations now that there is no need to buy any other spinner. I havent found a spinner that spins nearls as well as the aglia on slow reteieves, that includes other mepps spinners too.

If you go to bass pro they are dirt cheap, 3.49 or something for the #3.

I would recommenced getting plastics (grubs/twisty tails) as they tend to work when the fish are finicky.
