sweeeeeaaat pin dude, cant wait to see it lying next to steelhead. good choice.

I need to learn how to cast first hahaha.
Side cast looks easy enough, but the resulting line twist scares me.
Efka, I'm sure you use a modified wallis cast or something similar right?
How long did it take you to get it right?
I'm probably going to look like an idiot, but I will most likely bring my setup to the park (with no water) in front of my house and practice my casting haha

What really sucks is that with our time that moved back one hour, there is one hour less of fishing after work.
By the time I hit the closest creek, it's already dark.
Anyone have experience with pinning in the dark?
I suppose I just need to light up my float and go from there...
I would hate to head out to the river on a weekend and find myself shoulder to shoulder with other anglers when I'm only there to learn the basics.

walis cast took me about 5 min to learn, if you have good coordination it will come quick.
honestly though, i rarely use it.
in most of the creeks out east you don't even have to cast, just dip the float and let it float with the current.

btw even casting all day the line twists are not that bad because of the large spool.
if it gets too bad just cut the rig and let the line downstream...

No, I didn't pick up the one he had for sale.

He's a good guy though and it's a nice reel. If you're in the market for a pin, don't hesitate to contact him

wow go big or go home!!
Not a rookies Pin by any means...your gonna love it and it will last forever!!

nothin like a new pin

Actually I love the fenwick and it's more affordable isn't it? I just think it looks prettier, hence it would be a nice match with the prettiest of all reels (and such a reel at it too!).

Frozefire: congrats on the reel.. are those pics you took of it? If so, what settings where u using and are u using an slr?

Yup, the fenwick does look prettier haha

I took those pics right after I got home the day I picked up the reel.

no complaints with the hmg av, my im8 was busted in for repair for majority of the fall and i picked one up for the salmon. good rod with lots of power, could not even tell the diff between the im8 and the fenwick. about the prettyness... you be the judge!
