the right up on the DRII says it's ambidextrous...why don't you turn the reel around?

If I had it spooled properly so that the line is coming out from the bottom of the reel (right handed) the drag works perfectly. If I switch it to the left, I would have to run the line out from the top of the reel in order for the drag to work. If I spooled it so it comes out the bottom, the drag would be engaged while I'm reeling in.

I am baffled here?

How is the drag engaged/disengaged on that reel?

Dont most centerpins use a basic On/Off switch or button?

From what I'm reading it does have an On/Off switch, but I think buck is right that there is going to be something that needs to be reversed within the drag itself.

The drag will work the same no matter which way the reel is facing. You would however have to get it respooled in the opposite direction to use it the other way, otherwise the line will be coming off of the top of the spool rather then the bottom.

Yes, I could use the reel left handed, line coming out the bottom no problem, if the drag is disengaged. But if he drag is on, it would just give me resistance while reeling in and no resistance to the line coming out.
