So I was pike fishing with my 9 yr old and 7 yr old. We had good success, but we kept seeing these huge carp that were following our jerk baits to the boat but wouldn't strike. My two boys were going crazy seeing these huge fish and now they keep asking if we can go back and try to catch some carp.
I have never targeted carp. Is it as simple as putting some corn on a hook below a bobber? Any advice from the carp experts out there would be awesome!

Thanks guys!

The short answer is yes it can be that simple. Use some of the corn to chum with. Don't overload the hook with corn. leave the point uncovered. A good sharp hook is important.

Sorry for the late reply. If you are fishing corn on the hook a wide gap is a good idea. Size is not that critical, 4, 2 1 or even 1/0 will work. If you use a 1 or 1/0 please pinch the barb. It will make hook removal a lot easier on the fish and you. Good quality sharp hooks are important . Gamagatsu, Mustad , Owner and Raven are all good.

Out of curiosity - Do carp fight when you catch them? I've never fished carp before. To me, they look fat, lazy and kinda gross. I've snagged a few massive snapping turtles over the years and I imagine that pulling in a huge carp would be similar - just dragging in the weight.
