Hi All

My father inlaw wants to go fishing with me for some pickerel. I am new to the area so would like some advise. I am in Gravenhurst and would like to stay close. I personally would love to catch some pike, but he is more important for this outing.

So, I would like some advise on a good lake to go to (so I can look good for the inlaw). We would need to rent a boat, so needs to be a lake with boat rentals. He is so excited I don't want to let him down, so i thought I would check with the experts :) . Any help would be greatly appreciated! We are looking to go around June 15th or 16th.

Thanks

Lake Muskoka or Lake Rosseau will be your best bet(its close and has great fishing)..boat rentals well not sure there I have my own boats.you will have to check around but I would start a resorts and marinas in the area..These lakes are big so finding them is going to be your real challenge ...The walleye will be tough to get as the can be very tempormental ..The pike will be an easier target...So if I where you I would target the walleye for dusk and dawn when the bite will be best for them and hit the pike and bass(if open) during the day...this will make for a better day and less dissapointment..I would also fish for some lake trout, there is very good lake trout fishing there...Explore all your options and your weekend/trip/day whatever will give you more enjoyable time on the water..
A good hint..watch for areas where groups of boats congragate in the evening fishing these are usually the walleye fishermen..notice they are only there in the mornings and or evenings..just keep your space..if on Lake Muskoka you will find both Walleye and Lake Trout on the west side of browning island there is a 50ft shoal area you will see evening gatherers there

Gl hope this helps some..
