Do neoprene wader let wader in or are they like breathable except warmer

Neoprene Waders don't breathe at all. They're good for cold temps since you don't need to layer as much but in the summer I'm pretty sure there will be a mini swimming pool in them by the end of the day because of the lack of breathability.

The basic functionality is the same though in that they don't let water in.

Neo is no good for summer. You will die wearing them.. I usually dont wear waders at all just my wading boots and shorts. Unless its a cooler day ill wear em.

My first pair of waders were neoprene and I used to sweat my butt off if I had to do any walking, even in the winter. Do yourself a favour and stick with breathables. With a good layering system you'll be way more comfortable.

I have Neos...love them for the cooler weather! When it gets warmer, yes you will sweat pretty good in them. But at that point you can almost wet-wade.

I'm with everyone else. You'll sweat your jiblets off in neoprene waders.

Personally I wear shorts with hip waders in the summer. The poison ivy, hogweed, thistles, rose bushes, raspberry bushes, thorn bushes, ticks, mosquitos, leeches and agricultural runoff give me rashes if I try and brave it in shorts!

Is any one brand better than the other and are there diff in the thickness? Looking to buy a pair but not sure.

Neoprene waders are awesome for cold water temps and cold weather, but anything above 10 degrees air temp and you'll be sweating like crazy, they come in varying thicknesses withe the most common sizes being 3mm and 5mm, 5mm being extremely hot. as for what brand, i had a pair of redhead waders for 12 years, and that was using them nearly every day climbing up and down large break wall rocks. take care of them, properly dry them out and hang them up to store them and they will take care of you
