when i fished salmon last year i didnt know anything about flyfishing, i was using a 8lb leader tied directly to the fly line, i still do lol :mrgreen:remyboy said:porkie pies is how the irish ask you if you telling stories HAHA anyway if you can atch those on a 8 then that's all you need bro--unless you are manatee fishing that 6wt seems to work for you...you using 0x leader?
That leader is a problem for trout fishing. Get a 9 ft 6 x tapered leader. It lays down nicer and won't smack the water hard.ChasinTails said:when i fished salmon last year i didnt know anything about flyfishing, i was using a 8lb leader tied directly to the fly line, i still do lol

are they at bass pro ?AKnook said:TFO rods have a lifetime warrenty and are priced in your range. They are great rods.
ya i think ill leave my 6wt for steel and use my spinning gear or buy a new pin for salmonJMatt1983 said:going lighter weightmeans risking breaking your rod....unless you like spending money replacing broken gear, best to go a little heavier and be safe
They should be at any tackle shop that does fly fishing or a bit of fly fishing tackle. Stay with a brand like scientific anglers or rio. Quality leaders run from about 5.99-8.99$. BTW, the bigger the number of leader (i.e. 6x) the smaller diameter it is. So a 0-3 x would be for salmon, with a 7 or 8 x for small resi trout. If you think there might be a 20 inch resi trout where you're fishing, go with a 6 x, if they are small then 7 or 8 x is perfect.ChasinTails said:thanks cat, where can i get one ? how much are they ? a 9ft 6x taperd is right for my 6wt right. thanks
